Contributing Shifts

Contributing Shifts are used in a Holiday Credit Rule to determine which shifts prior to a holiday will be used to calculate average shifts or average wages. To create a contributing shift:

Administration > Application Setup > Pay Policies > Holiday Credit Rule Building Blocks > Contributing Shifts
  1. Select Create to create a contributing shift, or select Edit to edit an existing one.
  2. Enter a name for the contributing shift.
  3. For Look back, complete the following:
    • Look Back Time and Look Back Unit — Enter the amount of time to look back and the look back unit (Days, Week, or Months) for shifts to be considered a contributing shift.
    • Include complete pay periods only — Select this if you only want to include complete pay periods in the look back.
    • Select one of the following for when the look back period ends:
      • From holiday, time off, or sick leave event — The look back time frame ends on the day before the holiday, time off, or sick leave event.
      • Use time frame ending — The look back time frame ends on the day of the week (as specified in Previous Reference) that immediately precedes the holiday or time-off event. Alternatively, you can choose to end the look back time frame at the end of the pay period preceding the holiday or time-off event. For this, select End of Previous Pay Period for Previous Reference.
    • Minimum shift length — Enter the minimum length of a shift in order for it to be a contributing shift. The value is in hh:mm format.
    • Contributing pay codes — Select a previously configured Contributing Paycode set to determine which paycodes are considered.
  4. For Days of week to include, select how the days are considered:
    • All — Includes shifts that occur on all days of the week within the look-back time frame.
    • Day of week event falls on — Includes only shifts that occur on the days within the look-back time frame matching the day of the week of the holiday or time-off event.

For example, if you look back 4 weeks from a Monday holiday and use this option, only the shifts occurring on the four preceding Mondays will be considered contributing shifts.

    • Specify — Includes only shifts that occur on the selected days of the week within the look back time frame.
  5. Select Save.
