An Interval Round Rounding is a way to simplify payroll accounting and reporting, and to enforce shift start and end times. Punch rounds divide hours into equal segments of an hour. rule applies a round and a grace Graces determine when shift start and end times round to the previous increment and when they round to the next increment. to the entire amount of time.
For Example: an employee punches The entries on a timecard that mark the beginning (in-punch) or end (out-punch) of a work interval, such as the beginning of a shift or transfer. in at 8:07 A.M. and punches out at 4:25 P.M., working a total of 8:18. Using an interval round rule of 15/07, this rounds to 8:15.

Interval Rounding
- Round — The number of minutes in the round. Rounds divide hours into even increments of minutes. For example, quarter-hour rounds (:15) divide hours into four segments. Sixty must be a multiple of the round value.
- Grace — Graces determine if shift start and end times round forward or backward. They must be less than the associated rounds. When a shift start or end time occurs between round increments, the start or end time is compared to the grace. If the start or end time is less than or equal to the grace, it moves to the previous round increment. If the start or end time is greater than the grace, it moves to the next round increment.
Missed Punch
- Use Scheduled Time — When employees forget to punch out, their scheduled end times are considered to be their out-punches. If employees are not scheduled, their unscheduled shift lengths are added to their rounded in-punches. The result is used as the out-punch.
- Scheduled Hours Totals can be inaccurate when a shift contains multiple segments and the first segment is a transfer segment. This is the default behavior. To alter the behavior, edit the Pay Rule and select Scheduled time without a transfer is treated as a transfer to primary account and default work rule
- These settings apply only to past and scheduled shifts with at least one In or Out punch., in the calculation of projected totals. When projected totals for a current shift in the projected totals calculation, the current shift must have at least one In or Out punch.
- Actual and Projected Totals — When you select this setting, the system enters an In or Out punch as a system-generated punch into the timecard for scheduled shifts with missed punches. Also, these punches are reflected in the Projected Totals column in the Scheduler and Data Views.
- Projected Totals Only — When you select this setting, the system does not enter an In or Out punch as a system-generated punch for missed punches into the timecard. However, these punches are reflected in the Projected Totals column in the Scheduler or Data View.
- Treat as an Exception — When employees forget to punch out and the missed-out limit is reached, the exception appears on reports and the timecard. By default, this option is selected but unavailable. If you select Use Scheduled Time, the option is available.
